What Gold Ore is used for in New World
Gold is used to make jewelry at the Outfitting Station (rings, earrings, and necklaces) as well as certain weapons at the Workshop, Arcane Repository, and Forge.
First, the Gold Ore is used at the Smelter to create Gold Ingots, which can either be used to make jewelry and weapons, or upgraded to Platinum Ingots to make higher level items.
If you plan on being a jewelry maker in New World, you are going to need a lot of gold to do it. So knowing the best areas for efficient farming will help you make those high-price items.
How To Find the Best Mining Areas
Once you’re in your favorite area, bring up the Map (press M by default) and take notice of the different colors on the map surface. For mining, we’re looking for the light brown areas of the map—so the bigger the patch of brown you see, the greater chance you’ll have of finding large amounts of mining nodes.
This method is usually accurate, however some gold mine areas are not quite inside the brown areas on the map. Nevertheless, there is usually at least a few gold veins in every brown area of the map. But we’ll take a look at the best spots below.
Top Gold Vein Farming Areas
Below are favorite spots for farming gold. They are packed full of nodes, even when several other players have the same plan as you do. If a particular route doesn’t work for you, then try different spots on the map until you find what works best for you.
BEST OVERALL
Reekwater / Weaver’s Fen
This is easily the best place to find a large concentration of Gold Veins in New World. There are a few cat mobs lurking around, but not too many, and they’re easy enough to deal with at higher levels.
BEST ALTERNATIVE
Cutlass Keys
If you’re looking for a long line of gold to run through and collect, this route in Cutlass Keys is the way to go. You will run into a few wild animals and other enemies along the way, though, but at higher levels they are easy to dispatch.
Also, if you start running down the left-hand side first, you can jump down the cliffs to collect the rest—instead of having to go around the cliffs if you start in another direction.
This route is excellent for both Silver and Gold—a Jewel Crafter’s heaven!
BEST FOR AFK FARMING
Brightwood
If you enjoy doing a bit of farming while you work or watch TV, consider the North-East corner of Brightwood. There are no mobs around that will attack you, and there’s a nice line of Gold to pick up every 10-15 minutes as they respawn.
